As a Manager of Big Data, you will manage a team of Business Intelligence Application Support FTE's and contractors, who will establish and help in building a solid information architectural Hadoop environment.

The team is comprised of full-time employees and contractors responsible for maintaining Hadoop platform. This role will focus on process analysis for the application support team and will have in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in an application support discipline (Change management, problem management, incident management, etc…). 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 year in technology and business architecture, plus minimum of 3 years in a leadership role, preferably as a manager
  • Experience with Software Development Life Cycle management, preferably with Agile development and continuous integration background, in order to perform checks of team deliverables and solution design for quality, consistency, potential impacts to other processes and systems, and proper use of development principles
  • Persuasive in influencing strategic architecture direction, specifying policies and standards, drive consensus on target state architectures, and influence roadmaps.
  • Ability to differentiate business and technical strategies while clearly articulating the relationship and dependencies between them. This requires proven experience with identifying and resolving development impacting issues, working with members of project management team and business SME's/executives to drive to solutions within defined processes. 
  • Strong written and communication skills; ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management in groups and one-on-one, capable of providing sufficient details to development to guide desired outcomes
  • Experience with a variety of information architecture components such as data warehousing, data quality, business intelligence, metadata management, content management, Big Data/NoSQL, SOA, etc.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced, ambiguous, self-directed environment required.
  • Proficiency in productivity applications such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, communicate and enforce departmental policies relating to standards, information and customer security and operational processes to assure stable and reliable systems and to meet operational goals.
  • Shape and align innovative technological ideas that deliver value both short-term and long-term through strategic architectural roadmaps.
  • Stay abreast of information management trends and standards, master data management, big data, data services, self-service business intelligence, metadata management, data quality, and data governance.
  • Identify sources and trends of technical problems to prevent future occurrences.
  • Serve as an escalation point for difficult problems and complex inquiries.  Act as a peer group leader and help train staff.
  • Collaborate with business owners and provides direction to project team. Provides effective leadership, direction, and coaching as appropriate to any analysts on team or shared projects.
  • Produce high-quality project documentation with no assistance.
  • Acts as a change agent, initiating appropriate changes to support business growth, reduce operational costs, and/or improve service levels.
  • Take ownership of the issues, through root cause analysis and resolution
  • Develop solid relationships with infrastructure/operational teams and leverage the relationships to improve system stability and availability.
  • To provide coaching and feedback to staff members, work with managers to define department and individual goals in support of operational objectives. Identify training needs for employees; plan and implement training resources.
  • Continuously create and review documentation throughout the development life cycle, conceptual, logical and physical. Manage the development of functional reporting requirements of the data portal reports. Identify appropriate data sources to populate the data warehouse, and validate required data mappings.
